Details
This grand festival illuminates the autumn night sky with a history spanning over four centuries. The event originates from the historical fall of Sukagawa Castle during the Warring States period. The ceremony begins with the reception of the sacred fire at Nikaido Shrine, followed by the lighting of torches at Goroyama within Suigakuen Park. A torch drum performance is held in the parking lot of Suigakuen Park. The main procession features torches carried like a portable shrine, a smaller group carrying fireballs, and a relay team transporting the sacred fire. Visitors can enjoy food stalls throughout the event. A crowdfunding campaign is currently being conducted to support the festival. To ensure visitor safety, the viewing route is one-way, and attendees must follow staff instructions and venue signs.
