The Iwakune Grand Festival is an annual autumn celebration at Iwakune Shrine honoring a deity's arrival via a 'stone boat.'

Details
The festival, also known as 'Funagakoi' or 'Boat Encirclement,' expresses gratitude for the blessings of the mountains and seas. The procession is led by the 'Mifune Yatai' (Grand Boat Float), carried by young men from the worship hall to the large torii gate. Participants descend the approach stairs and transfer the float. The parade includes the 'Kiyari Uta' (woodworking chants), tama yari (ceremonial spears), mikoshi (portable shrine), and oshagiri yatai. The event continues late into the night with the 'Tomoyama' ceremony, marking the end of the season.
