This event is a Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese dance festival performed during the Obon period. The program is inspired by Hokusai's "Dance Procession Picture" (also referred to as "Dance Procession Scroll"), which depicts people joyfully dancing together. The event encourages participation from people of all ages and genders, regardless of skill level. It is acceptable for movements to be imperfect, unsynchronized, or uneven. The dance circle created by everyone becomes a single work of art. The program includes familiar folk songs known as "odori" as well as a variety of folk songs from all over Japan, making it easy for everyone to participate.
