Details
Kiba's Kakunori began when lumber merchants, known as Kawami, used bamboo poles with hooks called Tamezane to ride on floating logs. This skill evolved into a performing art requiring high technical expertise. The performance is accompanied by fast-tempo Kasai Bayashi music. The act includes various skills such as Jinori (basic riding), Ainori (paired riding), Karakasa-nori (umbrella riding), Sensu-nori (fan riding), Tebanashi-nori (riding without holding), Komageta-nori (riding with small wooden clogs), Ashida-nori (riding with wooden sandals), Kawazemi-nori (riding with special footwear), Hashigo-nori (ladder riding), Sanpo-nori (riding with a three-legged stool), and Modori-kago (returning basket).
