Details
This event combines a spectacular light show with a rare opportunity to view cultural assets. The projection mapping utilizes the temple's large ema (votive tablets), the "Kanbun Engi" illustrated scroll, and ukiyo-e prints associated with Sensō-ji. The special viewing allows access to the Denpoin Teien Garden and the Emado Hall. The Emado Hall features works by historical artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Hasegawa Yukidan, and Itami (Kano) Ichishin. The event includes a catalog titled "Sensō-ji no Ema" explaining major ema paintings. Tickets are valid for both day and night viewing and allow re-entry. The nighttime program "Kinryū Yōkai" illuminates the garden with fantastical lights. The event is free to view for the projection mapping, while special viewing tickets are available for purchase at a discounted price during the pre-sale period. The projection mapping at the Hokozomon gate previously attracted over 150,000 visitors in its first year.
