Details
At the festivals of each district's shrines, traditional performances such as lion dances are dedicated. In the Yoshioka (Yokogawa/Yoshikawa) district, male and female wild lions are manipulated by 'naburi-ko' to the rhythm of drums. On the day before Sports Day, 14 danjiri floats and 1 taiko-dai gather on the street in front of Mibukawa (Nijikawa) Station for a grand and splendid competition. The event is a vibrant and spectacular display of portable shrines known as 'kakikurabe'.
