The exhibition showcases the diverse world of fashion born from the interaction between the Ainu and Honshu regions. It focuses on the Kosonte, an Ainu word derived from the kosode, which served as the prototype for the kimono. While kosode were worn by noblewomen in Honshu, in Ainu culture, they became garments worn by men during ceremonies. The fabric was also utilized in the patterns and decorations of ruunpe, transforming into new forms of attire. The event highlights the techniques and expressions passed down to the present day, featuring traditional and contemporary designs woven through fabric.
