Details
This festival centers on the 'Yatai event of Imamiya Shrine,' a registered UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The event showcases a dazzling array of 27 floats that inherit the elegance of the Edo period, adding vibrancy to the streets of Kusanuma. The festival consists of two main days of activities. On the first day, the 'Kurikomi' (procession into the shrine) and 'Kuridashi' (procession out of the shrine) take place to Imamiya Shrine. On the second day, all 27 floats participate in the 'Yatai Zorai Hiki,' a grand parade running together along the Kobunegahara Shrine Street. A key attraction is the 'Buttsuke,' a competition where multiple floats gather at intersections to perform traditional music, creating a powerful soundscape that resonates through the city until nightfall on both days.
