Details
This festival is handcrafted by the local activity group "Dream Chasers" (Yume Oikata) and is inspired by the folk tale of "Togoro Fox" (Fujigoro Fox) from the Tochigahara district. Participants dress in white garments wearing fox masks and carry lanterns, following the sound of the fuku flute played by Tatsuhiro Omata and the clappers struck by the foresight fox. This year, the event features a large deep-fried tofu the size of a tatami mat, the fox lantern procession, and the fox dance. General participation in the procession is 100 yen, while wearing a fox costume costs 1,000 yen with reservation required by September 24th for the first 20 people.
