This festival aims to broaden understanding of the world through Caribbean and Latin American cultures while fostering pride in Tokyo, Japan. It creates opportunities to deepen connections with people from different cultures. The event allows attendees to experience cultural differences through taste, smell, sight, and sound, stimulating the brain and creating lasting memories. The festival concept was inspired by a trip to 12 islands in the Caribbean, particularly Saint Martin, known as the "Friendly Island" with a unique internal border between French and Dutch territories. A 20-minute ferry ride from Saint Martin reaches the British island of Anguilla, and a one-hour flight takes visitors to Puerto Rico, a US territory where Spanish is the main language. Despite differences in nationality and language, a strong sense of exchange and connection exists among Caribbeans. The festival started in Yoyogi Park in 2013. No outside food or drinks are allowed except for special reasons such as baby food.
