Details
The festival is a community-driven event founded in 2013, celebrating the intersection of history, nature, and diverse cultures in Kozu. The main venue is the Former Honda Residence, a nationally registered tangible cultural property designed in 1939 by Kenkuro Kume, featuring a unique earthquake-resistant wooden frame structure. The event includes a variety of activities such as art exhibitions, theater performances, and workshops inspired by the local landscape and history. Notable participants include photographer and filmmaker Shizuno Rai, artist Chita Sho, and the notremusica orchestra. The festival also features works by renowned artists like Shozo Moriyama and Francis Aoyama, as well as interactive installations by Juan Carlos Pinto. A special video program by collector Ueno Eiji showcases works by Pan Yuzhou, Chimupom, Kyunchome, and Takanashi Fuyhiko. Citizen participation is a key feature, with programs allowing anyone to engage in performing arts regardless of ability. The event includes the "Ikezu no Mori Music Festival" with performances by SILENT POETS, TENDRE, and others, culminating in a parade by the band Sekibutsu Pistolz from Zushi Beach to the venue. Free admission is available for junior high school students and younger, accompanied by a guardian for elementary students in 3rd grade and below. A combined ticket option is available for the exhibitions at the Former Honda Residence and cas!ca, with discounts for local residents. The festival aims to provide a "pure experience" by connecting visitors with the sensory and historical essence of the region through sound installations and immersive art.
