The Yamasu Sanma Festival is a popular autumn charity event hosted by Yamasu, a long-established dried fish specialty store in Odawara. The festival takes place across three specific locations: Yamasu Turnpaike Store, Yokohama Nanbu Market Store, and Minami-Kouhoku Store. A total of 6,000 Pacific saury fish are grilled and offered to attendees who make a donation. The first session features 2,000 fish sourced directly from Hokkaido. The second session occurs on October 24th at the Yokohama Nanbu Market Store with another 2,000 fish. The third session is held on November 7th at the Minami-Kouhoku Store, also featuring 2,000 fish. A special Sanma Gohan, a rice dish containing the fish, is sold only during the festival. The event invites participants to enjoy the flavors of autumn with fresh sanma.
