Details
The event takes place at Torikoshi Shrine in Taito Ward. The shrine enshrines Emperor Sujin, along with supporting deities Amateru-no-mi-kami and Tokugawa Ieyasu at the East Shrine. Visitors are invited to pray for a year filled with good fortune, guided by the white swan. Starting at midnight on January 1st, the shrine distributes sacred sake, longevity ginkgo nuts, amazake (sweet rice drink), and fortune coins on a first-come, first-served basis. During the first three days of the year, the large Chikkan portable shrine is on display for viewing. At the offering hall, the offering of zodiac-themed items begins, and a special New Year's red stamp is available. The shrine office is open from 9:00 to 17:00.
