Details
The exhibition draws from the British Museum's collection of approximately 40,000 Japanese artworks, which is considered the most comprehensive outside of Japan. It showcases selected masterpieces focusing on Edo-period paintings on folding screens (byobu), hanging scrolls (kakejiku), and handscrolls (emaki), alongside prints by eight renowned ukiyo-e artists. The event also sheds light on recent research findings and the collection's history, tracing the British Museum's role at the forefront of Japanese art preservation. Visitors can experience the expressions cultivated in three distinct locations: Tokyo (Ueno), Fukuoka (Oomuta), and Buenos Aires, Argentina, through various works and materials. Special collaborations include a menu available at the Prince Park Tower Tokyo hotel and original merchandise. Audio guides are available for rent at the entrance for 700 yen, or via an app version for 750 yen. Special ticket offers include a "Super Early Bird Discount" for weekdays and a "Weekday Exclusive Audio Guide Set Ticket".
