About this event

Summary
The 8th edition of the T3 Photography Festival, a 24-day event exploring the theme "And (&)", brings together top global artists and curators to re-examine the world through the lens of connection and non-binary opposition.

Highlights
• Theme: "And (&)", exploring the intersection of technology, talent, and tolerance.
• Concept: Photography as the art of connecting fragments of the world.
• International Collaboration: Partnerships with major cultural institutions from around the globe.
• Urban Integration: Exhibitions transforming indoor and outdoor spaces in Tokyo.

Details
The festival is based on the concept that culture is born where technology, talent, and tolerance intersect. It challenges the binary opposition often used to divide self and others, men and women, or nature and city, proposing instead an Asian perspective of unity similar to "yin and yang." The event features a curated selection of works by renowned photographers and artists.

Key Exhibitions include:
• Main Exhibition 1 by Lucas Foglia: "Constant Bloom" at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. This work follows the migration of the Painted Lady butterfly from Africa to Europe, re-imagining the relationship between nature and humanity as a continuous landscape rather than separate entities.
• Exhibition 1 by Sarah Van Reybrouck: "Atlas of Echoes" (working title) at Tokyo Chikae Building and Sanei Building. This project displays works created while walking through Paris, New York, and Seoul, weaving passersby and city fragments into a poetic narrative within Tokyo's urban landscape.
• Exhibition 2 by Anthony Cairns and Pietann (STUDIO + Expanding Contemporary Photography) at TODA BUILDING. An international joint project with the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris. It bridges opposing concepts like "me and you" and "light and shadow" to create fluid contemporary expressions.
• Exhibition 3 by Nozomi Suzuki and Saya Uehara at Gallery & Bakery Tokyo8fun (TODA BUILDING 1F). Curated by Saruyo Ohtake, this exhibition features works from the Higashikawa Town collection and new pieces, visualizing landscapes from the perspective of objects and places rather than humans.

The festival emphasizes the intersection of the photographer's gaze and the subject, arranging captured fragments to create works that quietly touch the viewer.
