Details
Shiobara Onsen offers a unique autumn experience centered around the "Shiobara Kogen Radish" (also known as Shiobara Takayama Daikon or Shiobara Highland Daikon). This local specialty is best enjoyed when morning and evening temperatures begin to drop, making it available from mid-September until just before winter in November. Visitors can purchase the radish at roadside stations and direct sales stores throughout the area. Many restaurants and inns in the city serve delicious dishes prepared with this seasonal vegetable. To celebrate the harvest, the area hosts three special "Odaigo Nabeyaki" (large radish hot pot) events in November, allowing guests to experience this cultural tradition and enjoy a warm meal featuring the local specialty.
