About this event
SummaryAn exhibition exploring the history of the Akita domain through maps, diagrams, and historical paintings.
Details
The exhibition showcases maps of the Akita domain and castle, along with diagrams of gold and silver mines owned by the Satake family, the former lords of Akita. These items offer a glimpse into the history of Akita as developed by the Satake clan. A key feature is the painting "Satake-sama's Procession to Edo," which depicts a procession of nobles. Notably, the artwork shows a dog, seemingly belonging to the Satake family, riding alone in a palanquin during the sankin-kotai, the alternate attendance system where feudal lords spent time in the capital, Edo.
