Details
Kiba's "Kakunori" is a traditional art form that originated during the Edo period. It involves lumber merchants, known as "Kawanami", using a "Tamezane" (a bamboo pole with a hook) to manipulate logs floating in the water. Performers ride on these floating logs with their bare feet and spin, performing various techniques. Over time, this evolved into a performing art. Accompanied by the Kakunori performance, the "Kasai Bayashi" music is played at a fast tempo. The performance includes the following acts: Ji-nori (basic riding), Ai-nori (riding together), Karasakari-nori (riding with a parasol), Sensuki-nori (riding with a fan), Te-hanashi-nori (riding without holding on), Koma-geta-nori (riding with small wooden sandals), Getanori (riding with wooden clogs), Kawa-semi-nori (riding like a cicada), Haddanori (riding on a ladder), Sanbo-nori (riding on a palanquin), and Modori-wakagone (returning in a palanquin).
