About this event
SummaryAn exhibition exploring the dreamlike world of Japanese painter Masashi Ishimoto (1920-2015).
Details
The exhibition delves into the unique artistic world of Masashi Ishimoto, a Japanese painter born in Misumi-cho, Hamada City. Known for layering memories and aspirations onto his paintings, Ishimoto created a realm of dreams and fantasies by combining clear motifs with other images that came to his mind. The exhibition features numerous sketches alongside his paintings, offering a closer look at his imaginative work.
Key themes and elements in his work include:
- Subjects: Beautiful women, chrysanthemum flowers, and landscapes.
- Artistic Style: The figures in his paintings evoke the reliefs of medieval Europe, which he observed during his travels.
- Imagery: Blooming chrysanthemums remind viewers of the flickering flames of candles on a candlestick.
