Details
On the 16th of every month, a prayer ceremony is held in front of the Guiding Kannon. This event includes a special exhibition of the Guiding Kannon statue, an Important Cultural Property dating back to the late 10th century. During the ceremony, participants receive clear water from a sacred well associated with En no Gyoja on their foreheads and fingertips. On November 16 specifically, a Guiding Kannon Goma Kito ceremony takes place before the Eleven-Faced Kannon. In this ritual, gomagi (prayer sticks) inscribed with written prayers are thrown into the flames and offered to the Guiding Kannon.
