Details
The exhibition presents a voyage through time and borders, highlighting the cultural significance of ceramics created for both practical use and aesthetic appreciation.

Exhibition Room 1 features Chinese ceramics with a 10,000-year history, including Tang Sancai, celadon, and blue-and-white porcelain. Notable pieces include Northern Song Dynasty vessels from the Yue kilns and a rare Jingdezhen bottle with red and green paint and gold leaf peony motifs.

Exhibition Room 2 displays Japanese ceramics reflecting diverse aesthetics from the 17th century onwards. Highlights include a Kyoto earthenware plate with Rinpa style patterns by Kansan and a Kakiyemon white porcelain vase with auspicious fruit motifs.

Exhibition Room 5 on the upper floor showcases Korean ceramics emphasizing purity and simplicity, featuring Goryeo celadon, buncheong ware, and late Joseon blue-and-white porcelain. A rare chest for Buddhist statues demonstrates the specialty of white clay inlay.

The concurrent exhibition in Exhibition Room 6 presents famous tea utensils, including a bowl received by warlord Shibata Katsuie from Oda Nobunaga, known as a masterpiece of Aoido ware.

Schedule
Slide Lectures: August 28, 2026 and September 18, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A curator provides guided tours using slides.

Special Event: "Let's Observe Pottery Fragments" on September 26, 2026, October 3, 2026, and October 10, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Participants can handle and observe pottery fragments from the collection.

Additional Information
Participation in lectures and special events is free, though museum admission fees apply. The journey through these three rooms offers a discovery of the unique cultural environments that nurtured these distinct ceramic traditions.
