Details
Hachiman Shrine serves as the tutelary deity for the Asano family and the southern area of Akaho. The event is a pioneer of the Shinkosai (procession to bring the deity) during the autumn festival. The main activity involves a procession where performers and the lion dance purify the path in front of the portable shrine (mikoshi) as it moves towards its ceremonial resting place (otori). The performance features two lion figures that awaken to the beating of drums and advance while purifying evil spirits under the guidance of a tengu. This dance is considered the most spectacular and impressive part of the show.
