Details
The Tanaka Honke Museum houses various daily tools and artworks from the Edo period. This exhibition focuses on the kimonos of Tanaka Taduru, who spent almost her entire life with the Tanaka family from the Meiji to the Showa periods. Through these kimonos, visitors will trace the growth and life of a woman from childhood to adulthood. Among the exhibits, the wedding attire is particularly noteworthy, featuring a stunning array of colorful uchikake (ceremonial kimono) and multi-layered tomesode (formal kimono), the sheer number and opulence of which are remarkable. The collection allows visitors to imagine the daily life of Taduru, born into a wealthy merchant family, through her exquisite kimonos.
