About this event
SummaryAn exhibition featuring approximately 60 pieces of Mino ware to re-examine legendary tea ceremony potters.
Details
The exhibition displays about 60 pieces of Mino ware. It explores the history of Furuta Oribe, who is said to have selected ten famous potters from Seto and six from Kyoto. These selected potters are known as the Seto Jussaku and the Oribe Rokusaku. In the tea ceremony world, they were traditionally associated with specific kiln marks, such as Choji being Shinbei and Juji being Moemon. However, archaeologists and art historians have often regarded these figures as legendary rather than real. To address this, the exhibition presents actual examples of kiln marks to allow for a reconsideration of these historical figures.
