The event takes place at Machida Santenshin Shrine, one of three Tenjin shrines in Machida dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane. During the annual festival, parishioners dressed in happi coats carry the portable shrine from neighborhood to neighborhood. On the 27th (Sunday), the streets are filled with energetic shouts and a vibrant atmosphere as the entire town participates in the lively procession.
