Details
The Ohara-juku Honjin Festival is held annually to preserve the only remaining historical headquarters (honjin) in Kanagawa Prefecture. The event connects this significant historical resource to regional revitalization and passes down Edo period culture to future generations. On the day of the event, a Daimyo Procession takes place where the streets are recreated in the style of the Koshukai Road. Activities include honjin drums, traditional music by local groups, a daimyo tea ceremony, street performances, recreations of old shops, and an exhibition of historical posters. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event, featuring an enhanced program with a wider range of activities including a collaborative performance with the Matsueda-cho Daimyo Procession Preservation Society.
